Hi BP members, I'm Jen from Brooklyn, NY and new to BP as well as real estate investing.

I found BP through the BiggerPockets Podcast and in the past few weeks have listened to at least one episode a day while riding the subway to work.

I currently work in the fashion and entertainment industry and while it is fun, it can be challenging to secure a future in such a fickle industry.

I became interested in REI years ago after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad but nothing ever came of it until now. I don't have much money of my own to invest but I believe I can find private loans from family and friends to start with and I hope to learn about creative financing as well.

I want to learn as much as I can about REI and my goal is to have my first rental property before the end of 2014. I'm looking for mentors, guidance and opportunities through the BP community. Looking forward to the journey!

Welcome Jen! I too started with Rich Dad Poor Dad. I was hooked after that and have read about 9 more of his books since. Rental properties are great, creative financing is even better, and you'll have a blast! Biggest piece of advice- make sure the numbers work. Don't buy just anything because not everything is a good deal.
