Newbie from Vidor, Texas

Hey everyone, the name is Josh Rhodes and I am just getting started in this incredible world of real estate. I joined BiggerPockets to learn from people who have come before me, and soak up all the information I can to create a lasting legacy for my family. 

Currently I hold a full time job as an independent contractor working in supplemental insurance, and I have always wanted to create a stream of income from rentals and other creative investing on the side. By no means does that mean I am putting a part time interest into making my endeavor successful. I am in the process of trying to narrow down my niche so I can focus my attention accordingly. 

For someone who is looking to break into the industry and has evenings and weekends free what would be a good place to start? Thanks in advance for all the invaluable information and I cannot wait to interact with you amazing people.
