Hi there! My name is May. I am a local Realtor in Chicago, IL. I enjoy helping my clients get their homes. But lately, I have been thinking more about getting involved in real estate as an investor. From what I have read so far about an investor's point of view, my mentality on real estate has changed over time.

A little bit of background. I actually moved from New York City. I grew up in Queens and often got the chance to observe my father who was a real estate investor. He was constantly talking on the phone, buying multiple homes, taking me to showings, and collecting rent. I though it was fascinating and fun. But I think my dad worked too hard. He had a lot of trouble with keeping up with the cash flow. I don't want to repeat his mistakes.

That's why I decided to learn about the industry from the inside...as a real estate agent. I have moved around and decided to settle in Chicago. It's a city big enough to have fun but small enough to walk on the streets without suffocating (*Cough NYC Cough*).

Anyway, just want to say hello. Let me know if you have questions about the real estate industry. Hoping to connect with other members and learn about others' experiences in becoming a real estate investor.

Here's to our success!

Have you personally invested in Chicago?

No, I have not. Was going to purchase a property near Bronzeville and Midway airport in Chicago. But couldn't get the price that I wanted. So I am thinking about saving up more money to concentrate on buying a property closer to downtown.

I am currently working with investors and they are also particular about the properties they want and for the price that they want.

Do first time investors have the luxury of being as particular about their first investments?
