Hello Bigger pockets! I am a native Marylander that grew up and currently live on the Delmarva peninsula. I come from a family of entrepreneurs and am the 3rd generation to be in Real Estate. My grandmother and grandfather built and financed hundred of homes in Cape St Claire near Annapolis in the the late 60s to the 80s. My uncle is a GC that does a little bit of everything. My father started as a GC when I was younger and did some land developing as well but is now a top performing Real Estate agent with Coldwell banker. My sister has recently gotten her license in the last few months as well.
As for me, I got my license in 2010/2011 in the hopes that the market would bounce back somewhat quickly. When it didn't, I set off on an adventure and ended up living in China and Taiwan for almost 4 years as an English teacher. I returned in August of 2015 and now am looking to get a start in Real Estate Investment. I figure that no family needs 3 freaking Real Estate agents, so REI seemed like a natural fit since I have always been a jack-of-all-trades kind of guy and am very comfortable with the math and complexity associated with this industry. I also believe I know the area extremely well and have the right contacts to be successful. I am specifically interested in the BRRRR technique since I have limited capital at the moment. (English teachers in Asia don't make a ton).
I really want to reiterate how much I love this site so far, this is my introduction but I have already spent 100s of hours going through the info here. What started with me looking at houses for myself on Zillow during my free time has slowly evolved into a long term multiphase acquisition plan. Largely from the information I came across while looking through this site. I have my vision and clear path forward, I am excited for the future and very happy to be joining this excellent community.
If anyone has questions about RE on the Eastern shore or Anne Arundel county areas of Maryland, feel free to send me a message. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
