Good morning Bigger Pockets! My name is Derek Krehling, I'm an aspiring investor from Middletown, PA. I've spent the last few months listening to the podcasts and lurking on the forums so I figured it was time to start engaging in conversations. My real estate experience is limited, but I've done some house hacking and am currently representing about 200 homeowners in a land deal where we are attempting to purchase about 330 acres of islands from a power company. While I'm not making any money on that, it has been a huge learning experience. Currently, I manage the field service and repair division for a woodworking machinery dealer. I spend my days traveling all over the northeast repairing machinery and promoting our brand. My goal in real estate is to build a rental portfolio in central PA to achieve financial independence and ultimately, retirement. Short term I would like to find some local investors to network with.

Welcome to BP.  I'm right down the road from you in Hummelstown.  

I'd recommend the local meetups - CARPOA meets in Camp Hill (my personal favorite, based on limited sample size), LIMG meets in Harrisburg, and there is also a meetup in Lancaster (haven't been to that one yet).

I'm still a beginner but I do have a few buy and hold properties locally and a few out of state as well.  I'd be glad to share some experiences with you, feel free to PM me.
