Hi all,

Just signed up recently. My profile says Seattle because I couldn't figure out how to change the zip code box to postal code. Will change as soon as I can.

I guess I started loving real estate investing when I was 19. I was living in Beijing, and was subleasing 2 bedrooms in a three bedroom downtown condo and living for free. The concept stuck.

Bought a condo in Vancouver, did what I call a slow flip ( beautify, live, then sell) when I was in university back in 2007. I'm a carpenter by trade, so fixing things up is fairly easy for me.

Sold that, bought a detached house in Calgary when moved here three years ago, pretty much for the Same price I Sold the condo for!

I was a commercial construction project manager here, when I bought my second house and did a major renovation and created a basement suite. Living there now and renting the first property.  My now business partner came by, and we started chatting, and we realized we both had no hobbies other than real estate and business. We now are finishing our third flip! Not marketing, but you can see my General Contracting arm on imstagram at Black Rose Developments. I love construction and well thought out design, which I think I produce. I don't really do jobs for other folks, I mainly renovate the houses I partner on buying.

This site was recommended to me by a friend In Vancouver who has bought several places in Georgia. I am now looking into getting financing and buying some rental properties in Dallas or Austin Texas and Edmonton multi families. Everything I have been reading up on seems very promising for long term rental properties there. I'd be curious in hearing some of your stories, and especially curious in anyone with experience in Texas.
