Newbie Investor from Central, NJ
Hey everyone!
Hope all is well, my name's J, I reside in central, NJ, New Brunswick to be specific. I've always been intrigued by real estate, rental properties and land to be specific. I am currently saving for my personal home and it is tough to save for an investment property at the same time but I'm still going. I have a day job, pays pretty well for the most part but I don't think it's the right path for me, I've always had an entrepreneurial mindset and took a little bit of a financial hit in 2012 - 2013 while running my business, put me down but I learned a lot from that time.
I've read a couple of books: Rich Dad Poor Dad, some of Cashflow Quadrant, Gary Kellers Millionaire Real Estate Investor, Brandons No Money Down and just starting Kiyosakis Guide to Investing. I feel like reading isn't enough, for me at least lol, and want to find a mentors, eventually partners, in my area who works with rental properties, fix flips, and land investments, I would love to talk and soak up as much information as possible, even ride along on deals.
Any how, I am looking to further my knowledge and hope to one day work with some of you.
Be blessed,
J.

What's up J, from a fellow newbie, welcome to BP! Sounds like we're similar in some regards like educating ourselves through books and also have some sort of startup/business. Have you thought of house-hacking your first property? It's the idea of buying a multi-unit property, living in one of those units, and renting out the others. This way your owner-occupied property will (ideally) be paid by your tenants and you get to live rent free! Here's a BP article that talks about it: House Hacking by Brandon Turner.
To your future empire,
