Hello Everyone!
My name is William Nereson, I am from Boerne, Texas north of San Antonio and currently live in Houston, Texas. I recently got started on the Bigger Pockets community (July 2017) and have been learning a lot. I have bought a ton of Real Estate books (~25) and have been reading them all, along with understanding the financials and desired returns / cash flow behind a good deal. I have decided to get my Real Estate license as a way to learn more about the business, but my strategy is still to buy and hold properties.
I went to school at Texas A&M University where I graduated with my Masters in Chemical Engineering in Dec. 2015 and currently work in Houston.
My goal is to buy my first property by December 2017. At minimum, I would like to buy my first 10 properties over the next 3 years.
My most important next step is to connect with people in the Houston or DFW area that would be able to guide me through the first couple deals. Right now I want to learn as much as possible.
I'm excited to get started! Please also reach out via the message feature so we can connect in person.
Regards,
-Will Nereson

@William N. Welcome aboard! We are in a similar place in our investment careers (also studying for the license). And live in Houston. Let me know if you want to network at some point.

Hello William and welcome to BP! Your goal is certainly attainable so best of luck. Feel free to reach out if you need anything down here in San Antonio.

@William N. that is great. I am myself a Texas A&M grad in structural engineering.
Have you had the chance to go to local networking events in the Houston area ?
There is one tonight in the midtown/montrose area that will be worth your while. I'll be there. It's a great event to network and meet other investors/agents/lenders/attorneys. It's at the black Labrador at 6:30pm.
It seems like you're looking for a mentor, your best bet is to go network as much as you possibly can. BP is a great start but you got to meet people face to face too.
Hope this helps!
