Hey Guys and Gals of Bigger Pockets!

My Name is Sage Balakrishnan and I am a (near) future real estate investor in Vancouver Canada. Currently I work as the Sales & Marketing Coordinator  in the Greater Vancouver Area. I graduated university a few months ago with a degree in Finance and Marketing. I wasn't sure what to do with my life past getting a job but knew that I wasn't going to get where I wanted to go by simply working at a job, even though I loved it.

During school, I was lucky enough to meet a successful business investor, Darren, at a school event where he was the keynote speaker. At the end of his awesome speech, the professor who set up the event asked if anyone student wanted to drive him from Kamloops to North Vancouver (4 hour drive). I didn't have a car but looked at my girlfriend and asked to use hers. Those four hours changed how my mind works and I have kept up with Darren regularly since.

Darren introduced me to the book, The Science of Money by Brian Tracey. This motivated me to read Rich Dad Poor Dad (which as I know from the podcast is how a lot of us got interested in real estate). After reading that book I hunted out information on investing in general and came across the Bigger Pockets Podcast.

I am looking to invest in single-family homes, using the BRRRR strategy and eventually graduating to multi-family homes. I will be buying my first home in BC, Canada but am open to any place on the planet if it makes sense.

Since learning about real estate 1.5 months ago, I have been studying like a mad man and was incredibly close to buying my first place (which seemed like a great day and may have been) after two weeks of studying but luckily ran into a very successful Real Estate Investor who talked me out of it. I have a fear of getting analysis paralysis so I am constantly ready to pull the trigger but now I am attempting to do it in a more informed intelligent way.

Feel free to message me, text me, or respond to this post. I love meeting new and like-minded people!

Thanks,

Sage

Great story @Sage Balakrishnan, I am glad that we both share similar stories of how we both got bitten by the real estate bug. I also became extremely obsessed to learn everything I could and do as much as I could.
