New to the Massachusetts/New Hampshire House Market

Hello everyone! My name is Shannon and I have started this incredibly new journey of house hunting. Not only are we first time home buyers, but my husband and I are looking to invest in our future by purchasing a duplex. The market is a sellers market and so far, the search has been overwhelming and scarce. I am looking for information on anything that will give us an edge, such as down payment assistance, investing in a rental property and creating an energy efficient home. We started our search last April when we took our first time home buying seminar, and next week we are taking our landlord seminar. We are looking around the North Shore area of Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. Any tips, leads or encouragement is welcomed!

Hey Shannon congrats! Lots of great info here on BP and really great investors here in MA. My suggestion is to employ a diligent RE agent. This will cut down on looking at properties that are not worth the time, numbers not working, and etc. You are right it definitely is a sellers market but there are still diamonds in the rough if you are willing to put in some sweat equity
