Greetings,

My name is Jonathan Wade, and I’m located in the Chester area of Virginia. Currently, I am in the law enforcement profession with a passion for financial freedom. Real estate for the past few years has peaked my interest, and I have been utilizing Meet Up to meet with real estate investors in the area as well as the BiggerPockets podcast and forums with other readings to self-educate. The dilemma that I am having is determining how I will be able to keep my current employment why taking a step towards my real estate interest. I do not plan to work in this field forever but with my benefits and having a Wife and seven-month-old I don’t just want to jump out there as of yet. My mentor ( 10+ years of real estate investing experience) advised me to look into real estate appraising (how he took his first steps) what is the group's thoughts on this topic? Is real estate appraising something that can be done on a part-time basis? I would use this income to purchase my first rental property (by and hold then transition to buy and flip). Any advice would help.

Respectfully,
