New Member from California, looking to connect in East Bay

Hello BiggerPockets!

I am completely new to real estate investing, outside of the books I've read and webinars I've watched. I want to get started here in California, specifically the Bay Area. I am extremely interested in buying and holding property. I am interest in in multi-family homes.

I don't have any construction experience, however I will be joining the local plumbers union in the following months, which I assume could help me at some point in my career as a real estate investor. I've always been a DIY'er and I don't mind doing handy work around the house.

Easy to picture myself being a real estate investor, but hard picturing it happening here in the Bay Area because of how expensive it is. I don't have a ton of cash nor do I already own a property with equity in it. I have good credit, I believe I would qualify for a FHA loan. Im eager to learn and jump in.

Thank you for reading my first post, and I look forward discussing with other members! Any response will be helpful, just looking for direction.
