New Kid on the Block in Portland, Oregon

Hi everyone! New kid on the block here from Portland, Oregon.

My brother and I have been listening to the BP podcasts for a little while and are just starting out in RE. I'm born and raised in the Portland, OR area and am interested in exploring single and multi-family investment properties. I recently purchased my first home with my wife and am looking forward to finding our next deal, which I hope to find in the greater Portland area.

I'm very happy to be here and excited to connect with many of you here on BP!

I have no affiliation however I do recommend the RAREBIRD meetings ..

the gentlemen who run it are very sharp.. and there are beginners and experienced investors in the group.

Hey Matthew,

Welcome to BP! Nice to see another Portland native on here (even if I'm late to the welcoming party!).

Congrats on your home purchase and for exploring real estate investing in the Portland area! Like Jay said, there are some great local investor groups out here.

Good luck!

@Matt Rego , welcome and congrats on your purchase! I second what @Jay Hinrichs says about Rare Bird. If you are interested in Multi family properties around the metro area we here at Latitude Realty and Property Management would be happy to help you find anything from 2 to 20+ units. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

Hello! @Matt Rego

Welcome to BP, and congratulations on making the decision to invest in your future via real estate.

I have written a few blog posts that may help you get started here on BP, and with your investing. Please click on the links, give them a read, and share your thoughts in the comments.

First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:

The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:

The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent.

There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.

I love answering questions if you have any! Good Luck :)

Hey @Matt Rego and welcome to Bigger Pockets! BP is one of the best online real estate investment websites. Not only does BP have free informative forums for you to learn and comment on, it also has free online courses, guides, and success stories from other real estate investors! You have come to the right place and I wish you all the best!

I was born in Portland & have lived the Portland area for 32 years! There seems to be a lot of competition in the area right now for deals. Although it has been getting harder to snag a deal at the auctions, there are other strategies that seem to work well here. I've heard many people recommend the RareBird meetup group. I've only been once but the leaders definitely know their stuff.
