Just introducing myself, my name is Dave and I'm a lawyer and broker in NYC, just breaking into the investing side of things, very excited to seek and share information, and to become a productive member of this community.
This forum has so much to offer. I recommend the meetups. There are a few coming up that are relatively local for you. Good luck.
Thank you again Debbie, I will look at the upcoming meetups andI'm sure I can find one to attend, I'm out by the Belt Parkway so Long Island is pretty convenient to me, I believe there were a few events coming up in Nassau County.
Hi David, how are you?! Lets chat, you're in the right place!
I go to multiple meetups in the area and I am starting one as well!
What is your investment strategy?
John, at the moment, strictly buy and hold in certain areas of Florida, but eventually once I build up some capital and credibility I would like to also look a little closer to home. I am happy to talk, I'll shoot you a message to follow up, and I will let you know which meetups I can make.
@David Gerard welcome to BP! I like you am a lawyer as well. What kind of law do you practice? What kind of investing interests you the most? What are some of your goals? PM me if you'd like to talk.
Dan, nice to meet you, always great to meet another attorney. I primarily practice (surprise) real estate law, along with a healthy dose of small business support and some litigation. As for investing, I'm looking to try to get some passive/supplemental income, hopefully to replace or reduce the money I need to make as lawyer, which is as you know a tremendous amount of work. So I'm currently looking at buy and hold as an initial strategy, and eventually if there is some cushion there I'd get into some flips.
Bigger Pockets is a great resource for learning and meeting others. Explore around and add to the knowledge base. Always great to network.
Best of Luck

First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:
The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:
The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent.
There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.
I love answering questions if you have any! Good Luck :)
Thank you Brandon, looks like a great set of resources, I will definitely check these links out!
