Wow! I am a little overwhelmed with all the information on this website. It seems like an incredible resource and I am looking forward to learning as much as I can here.
Hi, my name is John and new to REI and have never done a deal. I am looking to do my first deal as soon as I find a good one, hopefully within the next 2 or 3 months. I have a 750+ credit score and about 10-15 k to invest. I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I am new to the area. As I have been learning about the DFW area, I feel like this is a good area to invest because it is such a large region and is continuing to grow.
I will tell you that I just joined Lifestyle-Unlimited which did cost some money (for those that are wondering, it was a 3 digit number). Anyway, I am looking forward to their investment class, which I am attending this weekend. I decided to join because, after researching there company, I believe they will give me a road map of everything I need to know as far as a buy/hold strategy. Also, what I think sets this program apart is the fact they are local to this area and provide mentors to help you through the process, and they have a good network of agents/lenders/contractors/etc. Yes, I have read the massive thread on the forum about it and am aware they might try to oversimplify some of the aspects of buy/hold. I took a calculated risk by joining and understand that it might turn out that I am a sucker and they are a fraud. But I am going to keep an open mind about it and soak up as much information as possible. If you would like to know more about it, please send me a private message, as I do not want to get into an arguing match like the other thread.
I will say that I was kind of disappointed with the lifestyles’ member website, but I think I found a great website here (and the membership fee was $0, thanks!)
Anyway, like I said, I have no experience in REI and would appreciate any advice/guidance all yall seasoned pros would have.
If anyone wants to contact me, they best way would be my email.
-John
