My name is Mel and I’m new to BP.
A little about me: I'm from the Philly/South Jersey area, lived in Columbus for some time, and spent 5 years living/ working overseas. My job requires me to travel extensively so I now split my time between NYC and Columbus. My first and last rental property was a duplex in Philly that I owned for a short time. While I did make a profit off that investment, I also made tons of newbie mistakes. However, it was the best learning experience and I'm looking to get back into the game with an emphasis on MF buy/hold and eventually do SFH fix/flip.
I’m here to learn as much as possible, and also network with the wonderful folks in the BP community.

Welcome to biggerpockets!
What are some of the lessons you learned from the multi-family in philly? What made you want to sell it?
I have never been to Columbus but I hear the city brought up frequently as an area that one can still invest in and cash-flow.
Good luck to your real estate investing career!
@Melissa Maw Welcome to BP family! It's a great place to learn RE investing techniques. I think you're actually at a advantage with your job's travelling: Look into potentially investing in Columbus. Your travelling there will let you meet local brokers, investors, and other professionals. And then while back in NY, attend some local REI meetups as well. I hold one as well. We're having RE CPA present this month. You're welcome to join us.
Feel free to PM me with any questions. Best!
