New to Bigger Pockets

My name is Yusef Griffin, I am a 25 year old Marine Corps Officer currently stationed in Camp Pendleton, California. I knew I wanted to get into real estate since I was in college, but I never really looked into it because I didn't know where to start and I thought you needed loads of cash. A little over a year ago, one of my Marines introduced me to a local real estate investment group, I began to attend the monthly meetings and learned A LOT about real estate. I read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and it completely changed my mindset, that book has helped me learn that it is possible for anyone to earn passive income and travel the world (my calling in life). I've been to the Bigger Pockets website in the past, but I didn't really take the time to view the content on the website. I am currently in the process purchasing my first SFH investment property in North Little Rock, AR and it has resulted in me trying to learn even more because now it is actually happening. I have learned more about real estate in this past month than I have in the past year reading books. I stumbled on the second podcast with Grant Cardone during one of my research sessions, and I was blown away with how much I learned. I went through the Bigger Pockets website more in depth and started to listen to the podcasts from the beginning (currently on number 39). I am grateful for all of the content, discussions, and tools this website provides. I am glad to now be apart of the Bigger Pockets community and am excited to see what the future has in store.

Welcome, @Yusef Griffin ! So glad you've rediscovered Bigger Pockets early in your real estate investing journey...and the podcast is pure gold, yes? Still a huge source of inspiration and education to me.

A few tips that may be helpful to you here on the BP website:

You can set up keyword alerts so anytime someone posts about any of the other markets you're evaluating, you'll be notified. That could be a great way to find and stay engaged with local investors, realtors and opportunities. http://www.biggerpockets.com/alerts

You can also search for other investors or brokers in your market and follow their journey on Bigger Pockets here: https://www.biggerpockets.com/search/users

Best of luck to you and look forward to following your success on BP!

@Yusef Griffin welcome to BP!  As you've quickly realized, there is a ton of great info on the website, podcasts, and forums.

I'm also active duty (Navy), and I'm investing in SoCal with a partner.  Would love to connect if you're interested. I'll PM you my contact info.

Best of luck on your journey!

@Christina J Yes!!! The podcasts are everything I have been looking for all this time, every podcast inspires me even more! Thank you for the tips, I will definitely set that up.

@Yusef Griffin Thank You for your service and welcome to the BP family. I am newer myself but like to introduce myself and welcome people like others did to me. Iam from the milwaukee area and if you need anything let me know how i can be of assistance.

I am a Realtor in Jonesboro, AR and there are a lot of investment opportunities here and in the surrounding areas. Several zero down, under 100k, "big money", single family, and multifamily. The options are plenty here!

Hello! @Yusef Griffin

Welcome to BP, and congratulations on making the decision to invest in your future via real estate.

I have written a few blog posts that may help you get started here on BP, and with your investing. Please click on the links, give them a read, and share your thoughts in the comments.

First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:

The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:

The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent. There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.
