Wow, I've been on the site for about a total of 4 hours now and it's amazing.  I've been interested in real estate investment for quite some time now but it wasn't until today that I stumbled across BiggerPockets.  

I'm coming in brand new to the REI world. Look at that, I'm using acronyms already. I learned that reading through the Beginner's Guide, which has been a great starting point. My near-term goal is to get a rental property going, most likely in the D.C. Metro area. We live on the Virginia side of the border. I have a full time career which has me moving around a lot, so I've been hesitant for many years. I want to get past just READING about investing in real estate, and I want to start actually INVESTING. I look forward digesting all the great information this community has to offer!
