Newbie to BP and excite to start the journey

I'm am I.T. project manager from Southern California, I decided I'd look for a way to get into real estate which is something I've always been drawn to, so when I stumbled across BP and the great podcast I decided to take a one step towards something I've always believed would stand the test of time and that is real estate. My goal is to purchase my first rental in the next 3 months but am having a tough time trying to find the right market. I'd like to start off purchasing something in the 80-90k range. Have been looking in the Ohio area (north Canton, Massilon to name a few) but read mixed reviews about Ohio. Any feed back would be much appreciated.
