Greenhorn needing first time directional advice!

Howdy!

I'm a corporate financial analyst looking to begin my long journey of acquiring wealth for my fiancé an I's future. We are currently living in Virginia, but plan on settling down back in Texas after our JD and MBA. I'd love to gather as much directional advise as possible, while learning your story on how you first knew you were going to begin investing in real estate and purchasing your first investment home.

I understand that this is a pivotal point in my education, and while BPs is a fantastic resource, I believe that learning from others experience is paramount. I look forward to hearing from you and hope this is the beginning to many friendships!

Cheers,

Kenneth

@Kenneth Kilgore,

Welcome to BP!  You too @Michael Onstad.

I agree with @Jim Cummings comments about getting a plan in place to pay down you debt as you can.  One thing I would clarify is that you don't have to be debt-free to start investing.

If you are working and paying down while accumulating your down payments, that is the best way to go.  As time goes by, those debts get to be a smaller and smaller part of your expenses.  Your investments will bring in more and more.

Enjoy the journey,

James
