Newbie from New York interested in small multifamily investment

Hello , I am a Newbie and this is my first posting on the forum. I am interested in small multifamily homes in the New York area. My areas of interest include NYC( exclude lower Manhattan -too expensive), the lower Hudson valley area. I am interested in buy and hold.

Any ideas , suggestions would be welcome.
