I’m a junior in high school seeking to learn about real estate.

Hi, I’m 16 years old I’m currently in my junior year of high school in Houston, Tx. Since a young girl I’ve always been invested in myself and growing. Real estate and owning my own business has been a major interest to me, I’ve started taking marketing and Entrepreneurship this year and I want to take action towards my goals of learning about real estate including the advantages and disadvantages of this field and also to take the steps necessary to become a real estate agent or owning my own business. I’m reaching out to other experienced marketers, real estate agents/brokers, and business owners that would be available and genuinely interested in giving any advice on starting up.

Hi @Kassy Vaughn , props for wanting to get started so early!  I do have a few thoughts for you.

1. Do some research and figure out what direction within real estate you want to go.  It will change over time and that's ok but be clear on what your business is going to be when you start out.

2. If you want to be an agent, start working on getting your license when you are 17 so you can take the test right when you turn 18.

3. You are going to be getting a lot of pushback in the industry because of your age (as an agent).  You should work on your communication skills (speaking and writing) so you are more professional and well-spoken.  That will give you more clout when talking with clients.  Don't get me wrong your post looked great but don't get sloppy.

It is going to be hard, but you can do it and it will be worth it.  Just don't give up and try every single day.

Hey @Kassy Vaughn

Congrats to you for your ambition! If you are looking to connect with someone for some guidance or advice, feel free to reach out. I also recommend you read this article I wrote for Bigger Pockets titled How to Invest in Real Estate Before Turning 21. Once you've read it, let me know your thoughts and if you have any questions. I am a high school teacher in Colorado and I am always looking to help young people get started in real estate investing or help in any way I can. Let me know if you want to chat sometime. https://www.biggerpockets.com/.
