How to reduce water bill in chicago?

Anita Afandy
Posted

Hello fellow BPers!

I am wondering if any of you know a trick to reduce water bills in Chicago? I have a few multi family and their water bills seem normal. However, in my single family where I reside (in the northside of Chicago), the water bill is closer to 160$ a month since I have a 35" frontage. I tried installing meters but was told to wait due to lead pipeline issues....

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!! This community rocks!

I looked into this as well because my current house hack is an unmetered 2-flat and it sounds like getting a water meter installed should reduce the water bill by a lot. I know that was happening under the MeterSave program but I think the program is currently on pause as of the end of 2022.
