City Workers Caused Damages to our poperty

Hey guys,

We have a sewer located at our property, and there's an easement with the city that allows the city to enter our property to clean the sewer. I didn't mind the city cleaning the sewer at our property until after they caused damage to our vegetable garden and spread contaminated sewer particles on our deck and vegetable pots. I feel our property was treated without regard to what we own as well as our health, and I do not feel comfortable allowing the city workers to enter our property until the city takes responsibility for the damages caused, as well as lay out a plan on how they will be acting differently once we allow them on our property.
Here's what the sewer cleaning crew did:

1. Damaged a watermelon plant that my husband was growing with care for 2 months (stepped on it) by trespassing the easement boundaries (the watermelon plant was OUTSIDE of the easement area).

2. Contaminated our vegetable pots by failing to move them from their way, even though they advised me the pots will be moved, and, as a result, the metal rods that were IMMERSED INTO THE SEWER, were being pulled RIGHT ABOVE our veggies and herb pots. Again, the easement violation took place here as well, as the veggie pots were OUTSIDE of the easement area.

3. Placed contaminated metal rods that were IMMERSED into the sewer on our wood deck. No cleaning/sterilizing of that area took place afterwards. Again, the city workers trespassed here as well.

Do I have a strong ground demanding that city workers take accountability for their actions?
I would appreciate your input:)
Thank you,
Edita
