What's the deal with chatty contractors???

I had some GCs look at a property in order to prepare their bids. Two different contractors just kept talking and talking and talking! So much so that I found it difficult to get a word in edgewise. Both also kept pushing options I had no interest in even after I made it clear I wanted something else.

What do you think....

Would you ever hire a GC that appeared more interested in telling you want he wanted to tell you verses listening to what you want done?

What's your experience with contractors like this?

Have them all bid on the same scope of work. Written is better.

That way it doesn't matter how much they talk.
