Section 8 - Housing Authority in payment default
Hello BP!
I have inherited a section 8 tenant in a property i bought 2 month ago in Pennsylvania . After providing the tenant and the housing authority with the required 30days notice of lease non-renewal , i discovered that the housing authority decided to not pay me for the last month of contract, stating they had to pay the new land lord (the one where my tenant is moving to)
Funny enough, the section 8 contract does;t state any obligations or penalties for the HA in the case of non payment and also stipulates that the landlord cannot turn to the tenant to cover the missing voucher.... Awesome contract!
Anyone had such experiences ? any advice ?

Like @David Krulac, I've never seen that happen. Where is this property located?
My gut instinct is to say just swallow the loss and move on. I can't imagine it being worth your time and money to bring a lawsuit over this. And if you are in a situation where you actually need to sue HUD (or any federal agencies for that matter), you'll need to jump through a lot of procedural hoops. It's not simple as just filing a complaint in the magistrate court due to the fact that all federal agencies enjoy what we call "sovereign immunity."
