West San Antonio : Zombieland or gold rush?

Miguel Martinez
Posted

Rookie investor here, I am thinking about buying some land in the area since it is very accessible at the moment, expecting for the area to regenerate at some point. I believe this should happen, being so close to downtown and is happening little by little in the east, but one needs to be a bit brave to be among the first to get into it. What do you guys think about the potential of this area? Many thanks

There are lots of beautiful homes on the westside. Just about any area close to downtown was built from 1900 to the 40s. There was a great deal of craftsmanship put into them. I am just northwest of downtown in the Jefferson area; 1930s home that I rehabbed and remodeled. I love the area.

If you are talking about the area maybe bounded by 35 on the east, zarzamora on the west, culebra on the north and maybe Guadalupe on the south, I would say there are many great homes. But there is a majority that have been neglected beyond belief. Lots of people just don't care about their yard, paint and overall condition of their home. I think the westside can be a great long term appreciation play.
