Relocation to DC - Buy or Rent

My employer is paying to relocate me to Wash DC area to spend 2 years working in Pentagon. Then, I will be moving again. My employer will pay for all closing costs if I buy something. For only 2 yrs, It would make sense to rent. However, I am considering the purchase of a SFH or Townhouse and then retaining as a rental. Does this make sense? If so, any recommendations on places in NOVA to buy? Range would be 620K max.

@Dave Madden if your employer is paying for the closing costs, and you want to have a rental when you leave I feel it makes perfect sense to purchase.
