My observation is that you are asking for strangers to help you and show you everything, but not offering anything. You should consider the approach of offering these veteran investors your hard work or at least bring something to the table if you are going to ask for them to teach you everything in return. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

My wife and I have been looking for a mentor as well and let me tell you it is hard! But always be open to making new friends and meeting new people because you never know who will help. We still have not found a physical mentor but the search continues. Good luck Drake!

@David Roque, I am interested. You can see from my other recent posts that I am a newer member looking to learn as fast as I can. I am definitely willing to put in work and sweat in exchange for learning. If you are open to it, I would love to meet up to learn more about you and share my goals/interests and see if we are a good fit. I'll private message you.

@David Roque and @Tim hello I am also new to biggerpockets but have some experience in real estate. Currently living in North County if either of you would like to discuss strategies. What I can bring to the table is knowledge of managing an apartment complex. Own one property here in California (primary res) but have two in Philadelphia.

@David Roque I am new to the game, but I've been reading everything I can get my hands on in the subject of REI and am willing to put in the necessary sweat equity to get my first deal. Looking to find someone to point me in the right direction and just to network with and bounce idea off of.

replied almost 3 years agoJust sent a PM to @davidroque and invites to the others in this thread. I will be in Chula Vista soon, closing on a duplex there right now that we are doing the "house hack" strategy with using my VA loan. Plan to refi the multi family to conventional funding once eligible and do the same thing with my VA again, and repeat this 5 times or so, All the while avoiding the need for hard or private money and big down payments. At the same time, I want to move and take action elsewhere to accelerate my business. I am interested in learning and networking with other San Diegans in particular but am open to opportunity anywhere! Wholesaling, flipping, buy and hold, I am open to whatever works and willing to do what it takes to make things happen!
