Just purchased my first duplex

Hey everyone,
I just purchased my first duplex in Troy, Alabama. One side is operating with a long term tenant while the other side needs a lot of repairs. I have found a plumber who is coming next week, but there seems to be a shortage of electricians out here. In order to get the utilities turned on a few electrical fixes are required. Does anyone on here know any electricians that are available? I will pay extra or commuting expenses if necessary.

Hi @Theo Seng, Congrats on getting that first duplex in Troy, that’s a huge step. Finding trades out there can definitely be a headache, especially electricians. A good trick is to ask your plumber if they know someone they trust since trades usually have their own network. You could also check in with the local permitting office, they usually have a list of licensed folks actively pulling permits. And don’t be shy about asking other local investors or property managers, sometimes the best referrals come from people already in the game. Over time you’ll build that go-to team, which makes life way easier.
