Tenant calls the Fire dpmt and ConEd for gas leakage

Hi.

One of my tenants called the fire dpmt this morning cause she could smell gaz. The fire brigade shows up, conEd follows, and they find a leakage in the basement of the house (far away from the tenant's apartment btw). ConEd spends the day on site to replace pipes in the basement, drill in the pavement and replace pipes underground as well.

Shall I expect a fine?

Should my building insurance cover the cost of coned for the day?

Any advice or previous experience welcome.

Thanks a lot!

It depends on what they found. If it was in your home I am surprised they did not simply turn off the gas to the building and tell you to make repairs. Since they replaced pipes in the underground I would expect it was their trouble and you should not be responsible for the cost. You need to find out what they found as the source of the leak.
