Vinyl Safe Paint - Durability/Maintenance Inquiry

Hi All,

I've done research and searched through forums but am looking to gain additional input / experiences people have had with painting vinyl siding. I have spoken to a contractor around the matter and have heard chipping can occur as well as warping, etc. In terms of maintenance levels it might not be worth it and could potentially damage my vinyl. Basically a big No-No.

But playing devil's advocate and researching, I've seen in different instances that it was successful and little maintenance required over the years.

Any input/experiences/suggestions would be incredibly helpful. With my current rental in rehab stage, I did not account for the replacement of the vinyl siding since it technically does not need to be changed. With the exception of a power wash, I'm not doing much to the siding to really make the house pop. Maybe I'm underestimating the work of the power wash but anyhow, thanks in advance for your input.

It's not that vinyl needs special paint, but the other way around; only specific types of vinyl will take and hold paint.  Explore Home Depot for "window shutters, paintable" and you'll discover the issue for yourself.
