Moving washer and dryer hookups
Hi guys,
I'm not sure where this topic goes, but I hope some of you can give me some insights.
Here's the situation. I have one property where there are washer and dryer hookups in the kitchen. That is so ugly. Anyways, I want to move that washer and dryer hookup somewhere else.
I've already had two gc come and take a look and they said the options I have are 1) break the concrete and install new hookups into the garage, or 2) move the hookups from the kitch into the patio (enclosed patio already).
I've never seen a washer/dryer hookup that is not in the garage or inside the house before.
Please advise.

Hi, very subjective. One thing to consider is the insulated space and heating, you don't want a washing machine to freeze!
Before moving it, have you looked at redesigning the kitchen area,, minor adjustments of placing appliances may help and enclose the laundry area with bi-fold doors will sometimes do wonders. Picture the laundry area enclosed where it is.
Another consideration, I would suggest using PEX for any new lines, easy to install and it won't burst like copper or PVC.
I would try to keep the laundry inside if I could. If it had to go to the garage or a patio enclosure, I'd probably opt for the enclosured patio, improving it, insulating the room and set aside that area as a mud room/utility room. Hauling laundry into a garage is not real handy, especially keeping laundry supplies there. Are you going to fold laundry on the hood of the car? Just an opinion. Bill
