House...  Where should I start to get a ballpark cost to build a house on a vacant lot? I deeply appreciate all input.

I am looking to get a ballpark cost to build a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home on a lot in Desert Hot Springs, California.

Maybe 1800 square feet.

Thank you, kindly.

Remember to add in the cost for arch drawings, building permits, school fees in CA, as well as water, sewer (or septic system), electrical hook ups and gas if you want it.  Depending on how close the lines are to your house, you may have great expenses to add in these services.

ALSO, for a quick estimate, call your insurance company and ask what they recommend for costs to rebuild.  They will quote you a cost per square foot based on low, mid or high grade finish.  Their quoted amount is based on the going rates for the zip code and pretty accurate. Note--this quote will not include most of the above identified items as they generally are already there or already paid for with rebuilds.
