Good way to estimate repairs?

Hello,

How do you get rough estimates on repairs of a property? I know there are light, medium, and heavy figures that you can multiply by the square footage to get a ball park number. Just curious to see how others get their figures before bringing in contractors.

Thanks, Nick

@Nicolas Redhead welcome to BP! The nice thing about this community is that there are tons of resources available for free. What you can't find for free in the forums, podcasts or on the blogs are typically available in the BP bookstore. You can get to the bookstore at the top of this page or by clicking here

To answer your question specifically, a person you want to follow BP is J Scott as he literally wrote the book on estimating repair costs. Hope this helps and good luck!
