If you have built out in Joshua Tree area and know a good, honest General Contractor that returns calls I'm ALL EARS!!! I'm in the building process and have had two GC's just flake and the process is getting very frustrating. I'm ready to go. Seems like a totally different work mentality out there as opposed to her on the east coast. Any insight is appreciated!
I am looking as well. If anyone has recommendations on individual subs for floors and paint I would love to hear them
@Marc Castleman if you need a painter, Russel Waldron @ RW Painting is awesome.
Jeff - these GCs are totally swamped right now. There has been an explosion of business for them. That being said, I have a few recommendations that took me a long time to find and wish someone had told me about earlier:
1) Floor recommendation that took me 8 months to find....951-221-7540. I personally didn't use them (I had just opted for painting) but they are highly recommended from a few locals who just had it done. Polished concrete and can finish in 3 days. You have no idea how long it took me to find someone!
2) Outdoor concrete: If you are doing any concrete work outside, I highly recommend Masonry Division. They were "east coast" professional (I used to live there so I know). 909-551-9163. You have to source your own materials but they are fair pricing, show up early and there is a supervisor on site to make sure the work gets done correctly.
3) Cabinet Installation: Roberts Assembly and Install - 626-824-8402
4) Plumbing: I use AO Plumbing
I forgot one more! Hunter for cabinet or door installation: 760-408-8388
Great thread. I recommend hiring contractors from the Desert Hot Springs area and paying them a bit more to bring their subs up that way.
@Kristi Allain Kautz I second Russel Waldron! (Doesn't hurt that he's family)
For plumbing I recommend William Sellers (Keep in mind that the area is busy trying to get everyone hooked up to the new sewer system in town so you could experience delays due to that)
This is my hometown and my folks operate the largest real estate brokerage in the area Cherie Miller & Associates so if you need an agent, property manager, etc, they are the folks to call.
Wow... Thanks for taking the time to let me know about all these people!! I have been shopping around for the GC and it's been flake city. So things look like they're on track with the one I'm dealing with right now. We'll see. Just waiting on the plan approval from the city. Really appreciate everyone's input. This is definitely going to be a challenge which sometimes is good, we hope. Once again, Thank you!!!
