Hi BP,
My wife and I should be closing on a double within the next few weeks and I am looking for some help. This is a double with a somewhat traditional layout that is more updated than most. My wife is hoping to take one of the rooms from the other side for our unit. In order to do this, we will need to knock out a wall as well as put up a wall. We may have them move some other walls for us if can get them at a good price. Any ideas on who can do this well at a great price?
Also, we are hoping to move the kitchen from one side of the room to the other to open the house up more. I own a flooring company (New Orleans Flooring) so I have guys that can do demo but I am also looking for a plumber who help. Any suggestions?
Any help would be much appreciated,
John

Hi John,
I would be happy to check out your project. I've renovated a lot of these old shotguns, including my own recent camel-back addition.

@John Nix If its a shotgun double (which is sounds like), the center wall is load bearing and will require someone with knowledge to determine header sizes and load path. Generally in those houses, the walls separating the rooms the width of the house are not load bearing.
Good luck with our project.

The one wall we will be removing will be load bearing. The other walls we plan to alter will not be.
