Hello everybody this is my first post so I'm not sure this is the correct forum area to introduce myself but here goes. I just found bigger pockets this weekend and have dove head first reading and watching all the info available here. What a great resource this is and i look forward to learning and contributing in anyway I can. 

I have been interested in real estate since I was 12 years old. One of the first books I recall reading from cover to cover was the art of the deal (no political bias please, it was just a book lol) I have been in love with real estate ever since. I had 1 home I bought when I was 22 and ended up turning it into a rental but moved on from it many moons ago regretfully now. I'm 42 now so hind sight they say is killing me and I really wish I hadn't done that.

I was born, raised and live here in Grand Rapids and never lost the passion for this business. I always said when I grow up I just want to own real estate so here we go. I have built a few local businesses in the area and successfully sold a couple so I'm no stranger to hard work and developing strategies to build out another one albeit with limited knowledge here. I would love to hear from you and learn from like minded individuals such as yourselves and be an asset to you in anyway I can. I would love to find strategic buying partners, flip partners, or since I'm pretty green if you ever need help with any units I would love to exchange my labor for your knowledge. If there are any local groups i would love to check those out as well if you know of any. I Look forward to meeting and learning from my fellow West Michigan investors and building some great resources around this group.

Hello Dan!  Welcome to BP!  Grand Rapids is an exciting place to be right now!  We have a bit of a housing inventory shortage and this is creating opportunities for big profits!   Homes sell in minutes sometimes here and my investor pool has made tens of thousands of dollars profit over what we anticipated in some cases!  I've worked with a variety of investors in all stages of real estate so I'll be happy to share any knowledge I have to help you.  Fell free to add me to your network.    A good place to network with other investors and landlords is through the RPOA (Rental Property Owners Association).  They have a breakfast on Friday mornings that is popular.  There are other meetings as well during the month that are well attended.  I would start with that group and see where it takes you.

Welcome, Dan! Only look forward - so if you want RE investment property, go out and buy some! The GR market is very healthy right now with great rental rates.

Welcome Dan, I'm a CPA and new real estate investor in GR.  I'll be going to the Friday morning meetings as well, many have recommended them.  Good luck with your new venture.

Hey Dan. I'm also from grand rapids.  I'm a custom home builder in grand rapids and a licensed GC.  I also have the itch and want to find some deals.  If you need help with a project or want to partner up on something I would be interested.

Dan, I’m new to RE investing too and have been looking for properties to flip. I have my first property under contract right now in Grand Haven and am learning a ton through the process. I’d love to keep in touch with you, maybe we can share what we learn through the process!

Congratulations, I'm also a newbie working on some deals, just can't find the right one yet.

I put a couple bids into the GR market on the NW & NE side and it was crazy competitive. I think you either need to find the deals off market, have cash or bid high...or any combination of the 3! I love the GR market but it is really fast paced from the little I’ve seen!

How are you looking for your deals?

Congrats Dan! Can't wait to hear about the deal you have under contract. Crazy story on that 5 unit deal I told you guys about at the last meetup that fell apart... it came back and I closed on it Friday.

The market is fast paced and we have a shortage of inventory which can make for good profits if you can find deals. I have a few rentals and doing a flip right now. We are finding all of our deals off market! Would love to connect! Cheers!

 Hey Mitchell I am looking at finding buy and holds maybe flips as well but my expertise is minimal in both aspects. Learning as i go right now but stay in touch i would love to find some local people to work with.
