Hi all,
Trying this again as my first post got removed.
Just went under contract five days ago on my first ever buy and hold rental property. 3 bed 2 bath single family rental in the Cypress / Willowbrook area.
Does anyone have any familiarity or thoughts about that area? General trends you’ve noticed?
Does anyone have recommendations on how to source good contractors for vinyl or laminate flooring installation? All of the carpets need to be replaced.

Hi Andrew,
I'm a newbie and have not purchased any rentals as of yet. Congratulations on your first.
I do work in that area, though. I think it is a great location for a rental property. The area has grown and has accessibility to everything (shopping, great schools and hospitals). Plus, it is driving distance to Houston and The Woodlands.
Just use caution. There was a lot of flooding in this area with Harvey. I apologize, I do not know of any contractors.

Thanks for your thoughts Susan. As a Houston native, I think the north bound trend and proximity to Woodlands development is definitely a major factor in my decision making.

Who is going to manage your property and find you renters? That company should also be able to line up contractors to do the work you mentioned.

I am a contractor in the Houston area, all the way to Galveston and college station. And everywhere in between. @Andrew Shen . Take a trip to Lumber Liquidators & Floor & Decor. Both have a fantastic selection of flooring products.
Sounds like @Joe Guzman might be the guy to talk with on the installation.

@Andrew Shen I used to have homes in Cypress and Katy. One of my properties was over in a nice neighborhood east of 249, north of the Beltway. I’m pretty familiar with the area. I have a good source for flooring...picking up a pallet of vinyl plank on Monday as a matter of fact. PM me if you want more info.

I live not far away and I have a local guy that does exactly that. He has done my own home and my flip, and he's worked for another guy here on BP. I'll reach out and connect, and if you are interested, I'll pass along his details.
