Retail, Hotel and MF development on track near Apple
The Austin Zoning and Platting Commission on Nov. 17 approved an amendment to a planned development agreement to allow more buildings to rise on nearly 129 acres at 7700 Parmer, a business park less than one mile away from Apple’s future $1 billion campus.
The plan is to redevelop surface parking into 1,800 multifamily units, a 340-room hotel and 80,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. The amendment would also permit the planned development agreement to exceed the maximum square footage allowed on the site, which is currently more than 1.7 million square feet.
7700 Parmer is a 138-acre business park owned by Accesso Partners LLC, a Hallandale Beach, Florida-based real estate investment firm. The business park is already home to 955,000 square feet of office space among four buildings originally built for Motorola, according to past Austin Business Journal reporting. The office space is currently 99% leased, said David Putman, a principal at Aquila Commercial LLC who handles office leasing at 7700 Parmer. Tenants include Google Inc., Paypal Inc., eBay Inc., Deloitte, Electronic Arts Inc. and Polycom Inc.
