Grant Funding Sources?

Does anyone have any experience with receiving any grant funding, whether be it government or private sector? I've been looking at different programs, mostly through the government for areas that I'm interested in investing in, but have not really came across anything that I would be a candidate for. I've looked at things like the FHLB AHP, HOME program and CDBG funds. 

Would love to hear the experiences of other people if having received any grant funding for acquiring and or rehabilitating real estate property, and how you were able to do that.
