Advice on buying property for rental investment in the zipcode (28214) in Charlotte

Anurag Bas
Posted

Hi! I am exploring homes to buy in Charlotte in the zip code 28214 for rental investment and want to get insights from experienced Charlotte folks. I am exploring homes from the builder Red Cedar Homes who has a few communities in this zip code (example - 2019 Sadler woods lane) and is just 10 minutes from the airport but not in the heart of the city. I am wondering if this area has scope for home appreciation in the future and whether houses are rented easily? Essentially, I am wondering if it is a good idea to purchase a house here for investment purpose. Thank you so much.

Hi Anurgas! I'm a real estate agent and investor and I live in Charlotte. That zip code is a good choice because of the airport. There are also some up and coming zip codes in east Charlotte that have some good buy and hold opportunities.
if you're looking for a buy and hold I would also suggest looking at resales where you need to do minimal work to get it in shape to rent and be open to other builders. Builders like Mattamy are giving extremely good incentives to buyers. You can't go wrong with appreciation in that zip code. If you're looking for cash flow I would again recommend looking at east Charlotte.
Let me know if you want to talk more about what you're looking for or have more questions!
