I remember an app being talked about on one of the podcasts. The potential renters pay $40 (or so) to have a credit and background check run. Can anyone help me with the name?
Hi Lisa! Sounds like Cozy - it's $40/person and runs a background check and credit check. I use Cozy for rent collection, maintenance requests and tenant screening. Prospective tenants and current tenants love it and like how easy it is to work with.
Trans union smart move is a background check website. They have 3 levels ($25, $38, $40). You fill out the information about your property such as what the rents/deposits are then email them the request to fill it out. They fill it out and it comes back with credit, criminal, eviction history. Pretty slick.
I'm just thankful for this forum. This is great to know about Cozy and Trans union smart move.
@Andrew Carlson Thank you so much!
Thank you @Kenny Hall
Hi @Lisa McClease-Kelly ,
Bigger Pockets offers tenant screening through a trusted partner! There is a tenant involvement package which includes a tenant pay option as well as a no tenant involvement package. If you visit Tenant Screening under the Tools tab you can view further information :)
Hey @Lisa McClease-Kelly , I want to chime in and say that TransUnion smart move is a great option like others have mentioned. We actually use it through the property management software we use (Innago), which has been super convenient, but I've heard great things about it on its own as well.
I have always used transunion mysmartmove and have been happy. The tenants pay directly to them so you dont have to handle money. A copy of the report is emailed to you after they pay. Works like a charm and I have never had an eviction.
