Consumer protection ACT direct mail

I've done a small divorce direct mail list.  The first words of my letter are divorce sucks.  Problem is most of my callers had no idea their spouse filed.  Now I've got someone in the sales talks with sales pros fb group telling me it's illegal to market to people going through divorce.

Any truth to this?
