Mailing 2,000 Letters

Okay, I have started mailing out about 2,000 letters each month and am wondering what is the best way to get your prospects name on the envelopes? Might sound crazy but I am wondering if this is the best use of my time. I feel like if I order their names and addresses on stickers the response rate will go down but as I increase my mailing campaign I feel like that is a lot of time. I know some people send out 6,000+ mailers and am wondering how they systematize this process. Thanks for your help!
