New Real Estate Investor Looking to House Hack in Atlanta

Tyler Luk
Posted

Hi there,

I just moved to Atlanta couple months ago and am thinking of house hacking in the Atlanta area. I am an aspiring real estate investor and am looking for guidance on whether to house hack in a SFH or multi-unit properties. Looking at the MLS (zillow, realtor), I don't see that many multi-unit properties that makes sense numbers wise (ie not close to covering the mortgage). However, I do see a lot of SFH but I would need to find roommates to rent by the room to at least cover the mortgage and maybe even cash flow a little.

If any investors local to Atlanta area can help give tips on what neighborhoods are good areas to house hack and if they house hacked in SFH or multi-unit, I would be greatly appreciative. Thank you!

@Tyler Luk

Welcome! I'd echo the advice already given.

Start hanging out with the local investor community and start talking with RE brokers and lenders who have experience and expertise with househacking.
