Moving to Omaha Soon, Hoping to Use VA Loan to House Hack (Duplex/Triplex/Shared SFH)

Hey everyone! I'm moving to Omaha in about a month and just started looking into the idea of using my VA loan to buy a duplex, triplex, or even a single-family home and rent out the extra space. I know it's a quick turnaround, but a friend recently suggested it and I'm really interested.

Has anyone here successfully done something similar in Omaha? I'd especially appreciate any insight on using the VA loan for this kind of setup. Thanks so much!

@Jason Renze was one of the best things we ever did.  Highly recommend it.  You'll get a ton of noise from the outside and there will be ney sayers, just ignore them, its an unbelievable way to start building wealth.  I'd encourage getting something that's been redone or is in great shape, even if you have to pay a premium, its is worth it when you go to fill the units later or when you purchase.
