@Malik Batchelor Ideally you would get a cash equivalent at the time of assignment but that is pretty unreasonable. I wouldn't do that as a buyer. i would not pay the assignment fee up front at all.
Assignment fees are normally paid at closing. most title companies will may you with a check or can wire you funds but may charge for the service.
Since the Title Company will be the one sending you the money, if possible I'd prefer it to be drafted directly into bank account. But if that's not possible then I'd choose a check. I doubt if the Title Company would pay in Cash or a Cashiers Check but you never know.
