Short Term Rental Permit DEADLINE Reminder!

**Deadline**

This serves as a reminder if you have a house/cabin in Sevier County (unincorporated areas) that you are currently using or intend to use as a Short Term Rental, today is the deadline to apply for the Short Term Rental Permit. Why is this important? If you do not apply by today and you are going to use your home/cabin as an overnight rental, you will be required to bring it up to current building codes. If you apply by today, your home will be grandfathered in to the building codes that were in place the year your structure was built. As a side note if you were to ever let the permit lapse, expire, etc. you will then be required to bring it up to current building codes, in order to continue use as a Short Term Rental. This of course can prove to be a costly process!

Example: If your home was built in 1995 and sleeps 16, you will not be required to install a sprinkler system if you applied for your permit today. If you did not apply you would now be required to install a sprinkler system along with bringing everything else in the home up to code.

- If you are thinking about selling, spend the little money to get your house a permit. This will greatly impact your value! It should also be noted that this permit is transferable in a Real Estate Transaction, so as a buyer or seller it is always going to be important to make sure this permit is in place from this time moving forward! In case you haven't applied, click the link below and follow the steps.
