Damaged door trim, for real!

I came in here tonight, so ready to lash out—until I saw a move-out survey. As I was going through the meticulous pictures our staff takes, I was zooming in to confirm why a door trim was reported as "in need of paint"... and then I zoomed in again. The inspector was right—yet again.

On the right side of the door trim, there they were: tiny marker-line horizontal lines. I went back to the previous inspection and confirmed my suspicion—a Princess-themed measurement line for kids. The trim had four marks, out of six I was able to see on that drawing. These tenants moved out to their first home.

Being in property management is many things: stressful, complicated, full of moving parts and endless email inboxes. But it is also this. It is also a very happy owner who allowed flexibility in the midst of it all—and is now thrilled to have had a smooth transition between tenants, with an adequate scope of work, a plan for and virtually no impact to income.

It is also me, happily gifting this trim "damage" from the disposition letter. I'll pay those $10 in paint happily—because today, they reminded me of something far more priceless:

I love my job.

And you knew exactly what those marks were for!

I haven't seen that in long time.

Good Luck!
